True Friends are Lifelong Friends

I have read my Facebook page today and have been delighted by the number of beautiful pictures uploaded by various friends that I have made in the last 25yrs.  These are true friends and by that, I mean, lifelong friends.

There are some people who become more than acquaintances.  Research says that these true friends will probably be low in number – no more than 10.  For me, these true friendships were formed at significant times in my life.

I have found that with these friendships I have:

  • built trust and honesty
  • shared my inner self
  • cried and laughed together
  • been there for them, and they for me, in the hard and dark times
  • given and received sound counsel

Even though I am now thousands of miles away from some of these friends, when we get together it is as if we have never been apart.  We can pick up the conversation from where we left off.

We were never meant to be alone.  We were made for community and relationship.  True, unconditional friendship takes time and effort to establish, but once done, it lasts a lifetime.

Get in contact with your true friends today and tell them that you were thinking of them.  There is no time like the present.

And here’s to the next true friendships that I know are around the corner.

Thank you for taking the time to visit me here.  I appreciate any feedback that you care to give. Please add a comment to introduce yourself, or add value to what I have written in this post.

I have enjoyed 18 months in the Okanagan, something that I have longed to have the opportunity to do for a while. Living a dream, you could say. I also build up, train and encourage others to achieve more than they thought possible.

  1. Hi Kate,
I agree there is nothing more valuable than authentic friendships. For me, nearly all my good friendships were made earlier in life and their friendship would be difficult to replace with new friends. Not sure as to why but it does make me treasure their friendship even more.

Hi Riley Great to hear from you as always. Isn’t it wonderful to have such friends. I feel incredibly sad for those people who don’t. The difficulty with making true friends is that it requires perseverence. Sadly, it’s too much for some. FYI: got in contact with my friends in Maryland after I wrote this post. It’s so good to catch up. Have a great day. Kate
