Don’t fall in line – be different

I read a quote some time back:

Orange and purple don’t go together.

Funny that!  Perhaps they should tell the sunsets that I have experienced over the past couple of weeks because they certainly haven’t heard that one!

As I sit watching another wonderful sunset change shape, pattern and colour, I am considering how often we conform to something we once heard, believing it to be true.  Do I take what I hear as ‘gospel’?

There comes a time when it is right for me to be different; to challenge how people expect me to behave – because that’s what I always did in the past; to swim against the tide of public opinion sometimes.

It is scary being different.  I love walking down the street and seeing people’s ideas of fashion!  Some certainly don’t match my idea of what is considered ‘good taste’!  But does that make them wrong and me right?  NO.

Let’s give people room to express themselves.  Let’s not put them into a box, or label them.  To do so inhibits them.  Let’s see how we can free people from conformity, and allow them to soar.

So, as I watch another sunset subside into the west, I am being challenged to do somethings differently in my life; to not be predictable and to be surprising.

So what colour combination shall I wear tomorrow?  😉

Think you must be a kindred spirit Kate. I liked this post so much I just had to sign up! Enjoy Canada. I lived there (in B.C) for fifteen years. One of my favourite quotes is: ‘I’d rather have my mind opened by wonder than closed by belief.’

Thank you Jude. I thhink I am going to have to re-ignite my writing again within this blog. I’ve let it go for a while to concentrate on the photography, but expressing myself in this form is good for me too. Thanks for visiting and signing up.
